Configuring Resources
The VADAAR system has 3 types of resources:
- Storage Locations - Local drives or external storage devices to save recordings.
- VADAAR Sender - Captures, streams and records video, audio, and data.
- VADAAR Viewer - Displays live or recorded video, audio, and data.
Use the Resources page to manage available resources, assign resource access permissions for other VADAAR users, and control resource security.
Storage Locations
Adding Storage Locations
You must log in with an Administrator account.
To add a storage location:
Navigate to Settings > Resources.
In the toolbar at the top of the page, select + Add Resource.
In the drop down menu, select Storage Location.
In the Add Storage Location dialog, fill in the following information:
Setting Description Name Enter a name for the disk space as it will appear throughout the VADAAR system. Disk Select a storage disk from the drop down box. See Configuring Storage. Select Add.
Result: The storage location is added to your VADAAR system.
Editing a Storage Location
You must log in with an Administrator account or an account with access controls for the specific Storage Location. See Assigning Access Controls.
To edit a storage location:
Navigate to Settings > Resources.
(Optional) In the Search bar, type in the name of a storage location.
In the Resources list, select a Storage Location.
In the toolbar at the top of the page, select Edit.
- Alternatively, double-click on the storage location.
(Optional) Edit the Display Name.
(Optional) View the following information about the resource:
Setting Description Display Name The name of the Storage Location as it appears throughout the VADAAR system. Resource Type The type of resource. Disk The disk where the resource is located. Storage Location ID The ID of the storage location. Date Created The date the storage location was created. Select Save.
Result: The storage location's name updates throughout the VADAAR system.
VADAAR Senders
Adding VADAAR Senders
To add VADAAR Senders, see the instructions in Configuring on Windows and Configuring on Linux. VADAAR Senders that have been configured, display on the Resources page.
If a recently added Sender is not visible on the Resources page, select Refresh in the toolbar to update the list.
Editing a VADAAR Sender
To edit a VADAAR Sender's general information:
You must log in with an Administrator account or an account with access controls for the specific VADAAR Sender. See Assigning Access Controls.
Navigate to Settings > Resources.
(Optional) In the Search bar, type in the name of a VADAAR Sender.
In the Resources list, select a VADAAR Sender.
In the Actions ribbon at the top of the page, select Edit.
- Alternatively, double-click on the VADAAR Sender.
(Optional) Edit the Display Name.
(Optional) View the following information about the VADAAR Sender:
Setting Description Display Name The name of the VADAAR Sender as it appears throughout the VADAAR system. Resource Type The type of resource. Version The version number of the VADAAR Sender. Sender ID The ID of the selected Sender. Device Identifier The unique name used to identify the Sender. See Configuring on Windows and Configuring on Linux for configuration instructions. Date Created The date the Sender was added to the VADAAR system. Select Save.
Result: The Sender's name updates throughout the VADAAR system.

VADAAR Viewer
Adding a VADAAR Viewer
To add VADAAR Viewers, see the instructions in Configuring on Windows and Configuring on Linux. Viewers that have been configured, display on the Resources page.
If a recently added Viewer is not visible on the Resources page, select Refresh in the toolbar to update the list.
Editing a VADAAR Viewer
To edit a VADAAR Viewer's general information:
You must log in with an Administrator account or an account with access controls for the specific VADAAR Sender. See Assigning Access Controls.
Navigate to Settings > Resources.
(Optional) In the Search bar, type in the name of a VADAAR Viewer.
In the Resources list, select a VADAAR Viewer.
In the toolbar at the top of the page, select Edit.
- Alternatively, double-click on the VADAAR Viewer.
(Optional) Edit the Display Name.
(Optional) Edit the Startup State of the Viewer:
- In the Startup State field, select Import Scene.
- In the Select Scene dialog, select a scene.
- Select Add.
Result: The VADARR Viewer starts up with the selected scene. See Scenes for more information.
(Optional) View the following information about the Sender:
Setting Description Display Name The name of the VADAAR Viewer as it appears throughout the VADAAR system. Resource Type The type of resource. Version The version number of the VADAAR Viewer. Viewer ID The ID of the selected Viewer. Device Identifier The unique name used to identify the Viewer. See Configuring on Windows and Configuring on Linux for configuration instructions. Date Created The date the Viewer was added to the VADAAR system. Startup State The name of the scene configured to display at start up. If a scene is not selected, "Not Configured" displays. Select Save.
Result: The Viewer's information updates throughout the VADAAR system as configured.

Assigning Access Controls
Administrators have the ability to assign access permissions to other users to allow them to access, use, and edit resources. For more information on resource access permissions, see Role Based Access Control.
Adding Access Controls:
To add access controls for a resource:
- Navigate to Settings > Resources.
- (Optional) In the Search bar, type in the name of a resource.
- In the Resources list, select a the resource.
- In the toolbar at the top of the page, select Edit.
- Alternatively, double-click on the resource.
- On the resource's page, select the Access Control tab.
- Select the + icon in the tool bar.
- In the resulting dialog, select a user you want to configure access permissions for.
- In the Resource Role drop down, select a role to assign the selected user.
- Press Add.
Result: The selected user is assigned access permissions for the resource.
Removing Access Controls
To remove access controls for a resource:
- Navigate to Settings > Resources.
- (Optional) In the Search bar, type in the name of a resource.
- In the Resources list, select a the resource.
- In the toolbar at the top of the page, select Edit.
- Alternatively, double-click on the resource.
- On the resource's page, select the Access Control tab.
- Select a user from the list.
- In the resulting dialog, select a user you want to configure access permissions for.
- In the Resource Role drop down, select a role to assign the selected user.
- Select the Delete icon in the tool bar.
- Alternatively, in the Actions section of a user entry, select the Delete icon.
- In the Delete Member? dialog, select Delete.
Result: The user's access control for the resource is removed. They will no longer be able to access the resource.
Application Tokens
An Application Token is used to register VADAAR Senders and VADAAR Viewers to a specific Server.
Consider an application token as a password for the Senders and Viewers in your system. If an application token is leaked or compromised, you must generate a new token and reconfigure your Senders and Viewers to use it.
Regenerating an Application Token
To generate a new application token:
Navigate to Settings > Resources.
In the toolbar at the top of the page, select Application Token.
Select Regenerate Token.
Result: In the Application Token dialog, a new alpha-numeric code displays next to Current Application Token.
Update your environment variables to use the new application token. See Sender Configuration and Viewer Configuration.
Result: Senders and Viewers use the new application token to connect to the server.
