Scenes

A Scene is composed of regions, including their positional information and connections. Each region only displays a single stream at any time. Re-size or reposition it anywhere within the canvas, including over the top of other regions (e.g. for picture-in-picture). Scenes can be edited and saved using the Viewer Editor page to be used again later. Additionally, start up a VADAAR Viewer with a specific scene applied to save time when starting up your system. See Editing a VADAAR Viewer.

Create Scenes

Scenes provide the ability to arrange the Viewer Editor's canvas in a specific way during Monitor and Debrief.

To create a Scene:

  1. Navigate to Viewer Editor.

  2. In the Regions ribbon at the top of the page, select a region type to display. See Regions for more information.

  3. In the resulting dialog, select a source, then select Add.

  4. (Optional) Click and drag the edges of the source to resize and move it around the Canvas.

  5. (Optional) Continue to add regions to the Canvas as desired.

  6. In the menu bar, select the File tab.

  7. In the Scene ribbon, select Save As.

  8. In the Save Scene As dialog, navigate to the desired folder to save in.

  9. At the bottom of the dialog, enter the Name of the scene.

    tip

Use helpful naming conventions to clearly identify scenes created for layouts versus scenes created for recorded content.

  10. Select Save.

Result: The scene is now saved for future use.

Open Scenes

Open As Layout

Scenes as layouts leverages video, audio, UDP, and placeholder regions to arrange your content in a customized display in VADAAR Viewer.

Opening a Scene as a layout takes sources that are present on the Viewer Editor canvas and places them in their corresponding source, or placeholder, spot as defined in the scene. Regions in the scene are replaced with the content from the canvas with the most similar source available.

Additional live sources or recordings from a source already used is placed in the next available placeholder spot on the canvas. See Regions for more information.

note

Excess sources are ignored and not loaded into the layout. Change any source that loads using the Change Source button in the Region Properties toolbar, under the Home tab.

To open a Scene as a layout:

  1. Navigate to Viewer Editor.
  2. Add regions to the Viewer Editor canvas.
  3. In the menu bar, select the File tab.
  4. In the Scene ribbon at the top of the page, select Open As Layout.
  5. In the Select Scene dialog, navigate to the folder your scene is saved in.
  6. Select the scene, then select Open.

Result: The layout keeps and arranges the sources and displays them on the Viewer Editor's canvas, ready to be played on the VADAAR Viewer.
