Troubleshooting

A list of common errors that you may experience and how to correct them when things go wrong.

Remote Desktop Control Not Working with Windows Sender

When using Remote Desktop Control on a Windows machine, Sender may appear to stop controlling the mouse and keyboard. Inputs may be blocked due to the Sender having insufficient permissions to access the UAC dialogue or administrative applications. Try to mitigate by adjusting the settings in Advanced Configuration of the Sender.

Desktop Capture Issues

When using Sender, there are occasions when it does not capture the desktop. Use the below guides to help troubleshoot your system.

Running Sender on a Laptop

When using Sender on a laptop or multi-GPU system, you may run into issues capturing the display. The reason this happens is because most modern laptops will come with two GPUs:

  • An Intel GPU for 2D applications/your desktop
  • A discrete graphics chip (either NVIDIA or AMD) for 3D apps and games.

VADAAR Sender can only run on one of these GPUs, but your open applications and Image Generators (IG) could be running on either. For example, if Sender is running on the Intel GPU, you will not be able to capture your IG running on the discrete (NVIDIA or AMD) GPU. This is not really an issue with Sender, but rather a design choice by laptop manufacturers in order to save power and there's little that can be done on our side. However, we have troubleshooting suggestions to assist with this issue.

The below instructions guide you on how to select the graphics card Sender is running on using built-in Windows settings. This applies to Windows 10 version 1903 or newer.

To select the graphics card Sender is running on in Windows:

  1. Close VADAAR Sender if it is currently open.
  2. Open the Windows 10 Settings App (Start button → Cogwheel icon).
  3. Navigate to System → Display and select "Graphics settings" near the bottom.
  4. Select "Classic app" or "Desktop app" and click "Browse" under Graphics performance preference.
  5. Navigate and find your VADAAR Sender executable. By default this is C:\Program Files\VADAAR Sender\sender.exe.
  6. Once selected, click "Options" under the VADAAR Server entry.
  7. Choose "Power saving" and click Save.

Anti-Virus Software

Common software programs that present desktop capture issues are anti-virus software. Consider adding VADAAR Sender to the list of exceptions to help resolve the issue.
