Requirements
This page includes useful information on the supported Operating Systems as well as the hardware requirements that are needed to install and use VADAAR Sender.
Operating Systems
Supported distributions are:
- Windows 10
- CentOS 7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
Installation of VADAAR Sender on any operating systems not listed above is not supported.
CPU
CPU requirements are dependent on the expected workload. Your exact needs may be more, depending on your workload. Your workload is influenced by factors such as - but not limited to - the following:
- How many Viewers will be actively monitoring the Sender.
- How many sources are attached to the system.
- The resolution of the displays.
- How many active recordings need to be supported.
The following is the recommended minimum CPU hardware guidance for a handful of Active Streams on a system that does not have a Nvidia GPU that supports Hardware Accelerated Encoding.
- 4 cores is the recommended minimum number of cores and supports a few active Streams
- 8 cores supports up to 10 active Streams
Storage
The necessary hard drive space largely depends on the number of active recordings you are performing at the same time but as a rule of thumb you should have at least as much free space as the final size of all your recordings once they are completed. In ideal situations, Sender will only use a few MB for each active recording however in situations where connectivity to the server prevents uploading, they will be stored locally until connectivity is restored.
Memory
Memory requirements are dependent on the expected workload. Your exact needs may be more, depending on your workload. Your workload is influenced by factors such as - but not limited to - the following:
- How many Viewers will be actively monitoring the Sender
- How many sources are attached to the system
- The resolution of the displays.
- How many active recordings need to be supported.
The following is the recommended minimum Memory hardware guidance for a handful of Active Streams.
- 4 GB is the required minimum memory size and supports a few Active Streams that are being live monitored or recorded.
- 8 GB should allow for typical workloads while running other applications that also accounts for large 4k resolution displays.
GPU
Sender will attempt to use Hardware Accelerated Encoding if a supported Nvidia GPU is detected. It is highly recommended selecting a GPU that supports hardware encoding to greatly reduce the usage of the CPU.
