Requirements
This page includes useful information on the supported Operating Systems as well as the hardware requirements that are needed to install and use VADAAR.
Operating Systems
Supported distributions are:
- Windows 10
- CentOS 7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
Installation of VADAAR on any operating systems not listed above is not supported.
Web Browsers
Supported browsers and versions:
Browser | Version | Notes |
---|---|---|
Chrome | 69+ | The recommended browser for VADAAR. |
Edge | 79+ | - |
Firefox | 62+ | In-browser live streaming not supported. |
CPU
CPU requirements are dependent on the expected workload. Your exact needs may be more, depending on your workload. Your workload is influenced by factors such as - but not limited to - the following:
- How many active users.
- How many VADAAR Sender or VADAAR Viewers are connected.
- How many active recordings need to be supported.
The following is the recommended minimum CPU hardware guidance for a typical system:
- 4 cores is the recommended minimum number of cores and supports up to 500 concurrent active users and VADAAR Senders/Viewers
- 8 cores supports up to 1000 concurrent active users and VADAAR Senders/Viewers
Storage
The necessary hard drive space largely depends on the number of recordings that you need to retain at any one point in time. As a result, the storage required can widely vary and is dependent on factors that may change from session to session. As a rule of thumb, you can try calculate estimates based on three primary factors:
- Number of streams
- Length of recording
- Bitrate of the recording
Typically 1 stream = 1 video track + 1 audio track.
If you record 1 stream at the default quality (6 Mbps) for 1 hour, you will need 3 GB of storage space.
Using this information, we derive a formula of:
(# of streams) x (# hours) x (3 GB per stream per hour) = minimum storage required
Say you’re conducting a training session that is 2 hours long and you know you want to record 8 streams. Plugging that into our storage calculator formula, we get:
(8 streams) x (2 hours) x (3 GB per stream per hour) = 16 GB minimum storage
This is a minimum estimate. If you’re recording important sessions, always make sure to have extra storage available.
Memory
Memory requirements are dependent on the expected workload. Your exact needs may be more, depending on your workload. Your workload is influenced by factors such as - but not limited to - the following:
- How many active users.
- How many VADAAR Sender or VADAAR Viewers are connected.
- Hnd how many active recordings need to be supported.
The following is the recommended minimum Memory hardware guidance for a typical system:
- 4 GB is the required minimum memory size and supports a 500 active users and connected VADAAR Senders/Viewers.
- 8 GB can support up to 1000 active users and connected VADAAR Senders/Viewers.
